“Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

-Ruth Bader Ginsberg

Hi, I'm Ranord.

I am a proud New Orleanian and graduate of O. Perry Walker High School. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana, Lafayette) in 1987.  Thereafter, I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Tulane University School of Social Work and a Juris Doctor degree (JD) from Loyola University College of Law in 1991. Upon completion of my formal education I began working for the betterment of my community by creating a community-based non-profit organization, Community Volunteers Association to provide assistance to at risk youth and families. Since that time, I have maintained my commitment to New Orleans youth and families.  I have work in Juvenile Justice for over 25 years. In that time I have served as a Public Defender, Juvenile Traffic Referee, Clerk of Juvenile Court and Juvenile Court Judicial Administrator.

In August 2010,  I was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court as Judge Pro Tempore, Orleans Parish Juvenile Court.

My professional experience as an attorney and social worker covers multiple areas of practice. While continuously working in juvenile justice, I simultaneously served as in-house counsel and interim general counsel for Transit Management of Southeast Louisiana (TMSEL) and the Regional Transit Authority (RTA).  I also worked as a mental health Outreach Coordinator for Family Services of Greater New Orleans.

My volunteer work in the New Orleans community encompasses a wide range of interests and activities. I have served on non-profit boards including Kingsley House, Volunteer Information Agency, New Orleans Arts Council, National Association of Social Workers-Louisiana Chapter and the National Alliance for Mental Illness.  I currently serve as Chairperson of the Metropolitan Human Services District New Orleans Regional Advisory Committee (RAC).
